Professional inspections, maintenance, and repairs for special light sport and experimental amateur-built airplanes.
Mobile Service Available — Based at French Lick, Indiana (KFRH), serving southern Indiana and surrounding airports
When your airplane needs work, you need someone who understands both the regulations and the reality of flying these machines. I provide FAA-certified maintenance, annual inspections, and 100-hour inspections for light sport and experimental aircraft.
Comprehensive inspections performed to manufacturer and FAA standards. Detailed logs, discrepancy lists, and clear communication on what needs attention now vs. what can wait.
Buying a light sport or experimental? Get an unbiased, thorough inspection before you commit. I'll document the aircraft's condition and help you understand what you're getting into.
From oil changes and tire replacements to troubleshooting electrical issues and engine work. If it keeps your airplane flying safe, I can handle it.
Experienced with Rotax, Jabiru, Continental, Lycoming, Aerovee, and automotive conversions. Regular maintenance, troubleshooting, rebuilds, and repairs on all common light sport and experimental aircraft engines.
Hard landing? Hangar rash? I'll assess the damage, coordinate with your insurance if needed, and get you back in the air.
Most of my work is mobile — I come to your hangar. Serving French Lick (KFRH) and airports within southern Indiana. Need quick advice? Call for free over-the-phone troubleshooting.
I'm Tom Yoder, and I've been working with my hands my whole life. Now I build and maintain my own airplane — a Zenith 601XLB that I'm assembling right here in my hangar at French Lick (KFRH).
I hold a Sport Pilot License and an FAA Light Sport Repairman Certificate (Maintenance), which means I'm certified to perform maintenance and issue airworthiness sign-offs on light sport and experimental aircraft. I'm an Army veteran with a background in computer technology and mechanics.
My approach is simple: quality work, honest communication, and integrity in everything I do. These aren't just buzzwords — they're the principles I've built my career on.
What does that mean for you? It means I bring mechanical competence, attention to detail, and a no-BS approach to every airplane that comes through my hangar. I fly these machines too — I understand what's at stake.
My shop is equipped with full mechanical tools, welding equipment, a milling machine, lathe, and 3D printer. If a part needs to be fabricated, I can do that. If it needs to be welded, I can do that. If it just needs a careful hand and someone who gives a damn, I've got you covered.
I work on a wide range of light sport and experimental aircraft, including:
And more — if it's experimental or light sport, ask me.
I've worked with dozens of aircraft owners across Indiana and beyond. Here's what they have to say:
"Tom's attention to detail and honest approach saved me thousands on my pre-purchase inspection. He found issues the seller didn't disclose and helped me negotiate a fair deal."
"Finally found someone who actually understands Rotax engines and doesn't try to upsell you on stuff you don't need. Mobile service is a huge plus — he came to my hangar."
"Tom's work on my RV-7 annual was thorough and fairly priced. He found a potential issue with the fuel system that could have been serious. Honest, knowledgeable, and he explains things in plain English."
